Since June 2025, I chair the Scientific Committee of the Italian Association of Artificial Intelligence Professionals. A role with specific responsibilities: professional standards, governance, ethics, and dialogue with European and Italian institutions.
AIPIA is the Italian Association of Artificial Intelligence Professionals. Headquartered in Rome, with over 320 members. Brings together professionals, academics, executives, researchers working on AI in Italy. Recognised by the European AI Alliance of the European Commission. Endorser of the Rome Call for AI Ethics — the Vatican-led initiative for ethical and responsible AI, signed by Microsoft, IBM, FAO, the United Nations, national governments.
The Scientific Committee is the body that shapes the technical positioning of the association. It defines professional standards, validates technical opinions, dialogues with regulatory institutions, and builds operational guidelines for members.
Three things. First: I have institutional access to European Commission dialogue on AI matters. On the AI Act, on emerging policies, I'm in an informed position months ahead of the market. I bring this into client engagements.
Second: I bear reputational responsibility to 320+ members. I cannot afford to make wrong technical or ethical choices on visible engagements. The bar is high. I bring this into my work.
Third: I have a network of Italian and European experts — academics, researchers, professionals — that I can activate when an engagement requires expertise beyond mine. I bring this into client engagements.
The European AI Alliance is the participatory forum of the European Commission on artificial intelligence. It brings together stakeholders from all sectors — companies, academia, civil society — to shape European AI policies. AIPIA is a recognised member.
The Rome Call for AI Ethics is the initiative led by the Pontifical Academy for Life for ethical, inclusive, human-dignity-respecting AI. Signed by Microsoft, IBM, FAO, the United Nations, national governments. AIPIA is an official endorser.
For international enterprises working with us, this means one thing: you're talking to someone inside the conversations that decide the regulatory future, before it becomes a problem.
The official AIPIA website contains the list of members, association positions, upcoming events, and guidelines for the AI profession in Italy.
